#Conan the barbarian 2011 remux dl serial#
Altogether 13 essays from leading and emerging scholars in the fields of film and media studies, literary studies, cultural history, ethnography and American studies address questions relating to the production and reception of serial narratives in the past and present. It explores narrative, cultural, and historical dimensions of serial narratives in an effort to come to terms with their changing forms and functions within the field of popular culture. This special issue seeks to make an original contribution to seriality studies. The article concludes that if the field of remake studies wishes to break out of its disciplinary boundaries, adopting a multi-methodological approach will help to further brush off its dusty character of textual analysis. It is shown that crucial questions like ‘(why) do audiences prefer the domestic remake over the foreign film?’, ‘how do audiences experience, interpret, and explain differences and similarities between source films and remakes?’, but also ‘how do audiences define and assess film remakes?’ remain yet to be asked. By the end of its run, the film had grossed 21,295,021 domestically and 27,500,000 internationally, for a worldwide total of 48,795,021. In its first weekend, Conan made 10,021,215 in 3,015 theaters and opened at 4 in the United States domestic box office.

The second part of the article points towards the importance of investigating the reception, experience, and interpretation of film remakes. Conan the Barbarian was released on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on Novemby Lionsgate Home Entertainment. It is contended that the analysis of film remakes should start examining the different individuals or institutions that mediate or intervene between the production of cultural artefacts and the generation of consumer preferences. The first section of the article mainly deals with the importance of investigating the different cultural mediators that take part in the production lifecycle of the film remake. I argue that a lot can be learned from the insights coming from the existing methodologies that are being used in, that is, format studies, (critical) media industry studies, (audiovisual) translation studies, and more recently the study of cultural transduction. Along the way he falls for her and, after she's kidnapped by Marique, Khalar Zym's witch daughter, he fights through Khalar Zym's followers, destroys the mask and ends by accompanying Tamara to her city before returning to his burned-down village. This article argues that, after decades of pointing towards the importance of including production and reception research into the study of film remakes, we should actually start addressing production and reception methodologies and investigate why this is necessary for the sustainability and future development of the field. Learning of this from Remo, one of Khalar Zym's henchman, Conan brings Tamara along with him to use her as bait. Zym needs her blood to restore the mask so he can use its power to revive his wife, a witch. On his path of revenge, Conan chances upon Tamara, a beautiful novice monk and a descendant of the bloodline of the necromancers who first created the mask. Allowing himself to be imprisoned, Conan confronts Lucius, learning that the warlord is known as Khalar Zym before forcing him to swallow the keys to every prisoner's shackles so Lucius would be slaughtered by them. Having ventured into an unforgiving world, hunting down the warlord for years, a now-adult Conan finally gets a lead when he learns Lucius, one of the men who ransacked Conan's village and whose nose he'd chopped off, became a warden of a prison. Left to die with his son, who is holding the vat of molten metal placed above him, Corin sacrifices himself so Conan can live.

Soon after, Conan is practicing with a tree when a group of warriors led by a warlord systematically destroys Conan's village to obtain part of a mask in Corin's possession. Conan is then being educated by Corin on the importance of steel to their people. But they are being followed by a tribe and the boys run away except Conan who fights them all and comes back to his father and the village with the severed heads and he spits out the whole egg.

Several boys take off including Conan and race through the woods and fight each other to be the victor. Years later, Conan enters a Cimmeria rite of passage to be a warrior by taking a bird egg into the mouth and circle a hill and come back with the egg whole. During a battle in Cimmeria, a sword enters a mothers womb and we see Corin rush over to his wife and cuts out the baby and the mother names him Conan before she dies. As the film begins, we learn of mask that has magical powers, the mask was shattered by Cimmerian steel and divided up between the barbarian tribes.
